I'm Gab, and I am the sole creator and artist behind 'The Gift of the Gab'.

 

When I was young, I was always obsessed with art and always had to experiment with new mediums. I paint with acrylic, watercolour, experiment with pastels and since 2020 I have dappled in digital art.

In July 2020 my son Malcolm passed away shortly after his birth at only 18 weeks gestation. The following year, in April 2021, his brother Lincoln was born at 24 weeks and spent 149 days in NICU. During this time, I worked hard to create a digital scrapbook of his time in hospital and also drawings of our family to display inside his incubator.

 

I quickly developed a love for digital family portraits as I could include my son and family who are no longer earthside. I found it so very healing to have a family portrait with everyone that is missing from my life. So, I decided to gift artworks to every bereaved Mum I knew and then went on to gift some more.

Now I offer budget friendly artworks to bereaved families as well as those who haven't experienced loss.

 

Sadly I found myself adding another baby into my own family portrait, in February this year, when my son Malachi was born sleeping. So, I created another portrait for myself and I was surprisingly comforted, yet again, by something so incredibly simple.

 

I just hope that my drawings can bring some comfort to others during a difficult time or even just put a smile on their face.
